Originating in Germany in the 1840s, enamel plates and mugs were designed as a way to stop the taste of iron and rust from getting into food and beverages. Somewhere along the way, plastic started dominating camp kitchens. Sure, plastic campware is cheap and convenient, but the real cost is a loss of durability, microplastics in your food and a hit to the planet.
The founders of Salty Dunes made it their mission to design campware that’s made for multiple generations instead of multiple trips. These Classic Enamel Plates can handle decades of campfires, 4x4 tracks, beach picnics, kids, dogs and all the adventures that come with an Aussie lifestyle. No thin metals, just thick carbon steel, double coated enamel and artwork fired onto the plate in an 800 degree kiln, not printed on to eventually peel off later.

Care: Dishwasher safe. Fire safe. Do not microwave. Avoid leaving acidic foods on the enamel for long periods. If the plate chips, it’s still safe to use as the steel naturally oxidises.
